Echo is an Italian restaurant at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel, overlooking the Galle Road, with a cross section of customers from power suited professionals to foreign families and groups of friends. It is housed in a property which was the office of the country's most famed architect, the late Geoffrey Bawa, now distressingly in the shadow of a rather large apartment complex. It is an open air restaurant, which serves grills, seafood and meats, as well as a generous smattering of quite unique dishes mixing eastern and western, which we are assured are not ''fusion''. It has quite an up market atmosphere, with celebrities, top entrepreneurs, politicians, foreign tourists, NGO workers and socialites among its clientele.

In terms of authenticity, this old favourite is still unlikely to disappoint. Poolside dining or indoor air-conditioned dining with Hilton's fine service. Their wide ranging menu includes Fettucini, Spaghetti, Pizza, Lasagna, Pasta, veal, lamb, duck, salmon, a big Caesar and other salads... the list goes on. 'The Bridge' (Il Ponte) near the pool can titillate the taste buds on a good day. Enjoy coffee culture (though a long way from that of Vienna!) with specialties such as cappuccino, latte, mocha, affogato and macchiato.
Though it may seem like Il Ponte is old news, their Italian fare is still top notch. They aren't the cheapest place in town and the service has room for improvement, but their pizzas certainly offer good value for money.

Domenico's is a small Pizzeria along Thimbirigasyaya Road, the big Green, White and Red stripes makes it hard to miss. The interior of the restaurant is designed nicely. It's a very cozy place with a few tables placed closer towards the entrance and a massive wood fired oven on the other side, enclosed by a counter which allows you to see how the Hand tossed wood fired thin crust pizzas are being made. There is a private dining room at the end of the restaurant.
